Modern detached house in rural South Devon with a crisp smooth silicone render facade

External render systems built for the Devon weather.

Coastal wind, driving rain and salt air are hard on a building. A properly specified and applied render system keeps the weather out and gives a crisp, clean elevation for years. We prepare substrates correctly, use the right beads and details, and apply render to the manufacturer’s system requirements.

Render systems

Choose the right finish for the building.

Sand & cement render

The traditional choice: a robust two-coat render that can be left as a smooth float finish or textured, then painted with a breathable masonry paint.

Silicone render

A thin-coat, through-coloured finish with water-repellent properties that helps the facade stay cleaner for longer. Flexible, breathable and available in a wide range of colours.

Coloured & monocouche render

Through-coloured renders applied in a single or system build-up, with the colour in the material rather than a painted coat — a popular choice for contemporary homes and developments.

What is the difference between silicone and traditional render?

Traditional sand and cement render is applied in thicker coats and usually painted. Silicone render is a thin, through-coloured finish coat with water-repellent properties, so it does not normally need painting and tends to resist dirt and algae better.

Can you render over my existing render?

Sometimes. It depends on the condition of what is there — hollow, cracked or poorly bonded render normally needs removing first. We will check on site and give you an honest recommendation.

What time of year can you render?

Render needs suitable temperatures and dry weather to cure properly, so we plan external work around the forecast and the product’s application limits.
